Densely built-up city of the Victorian era, several engineers-visionaries are racing for the best ideas for a flying machine based on the newest achievements of technology. But where to work on your idea when nobody wants to make any hall, shed or site available as one don’t believe in the success of your mad venture? How to ensure a place to work near the river being the main transport route of the construction materials and avoid scoffing of self-righteous gaping crowd?
One of the visionaries have found a way to ensure his team calm working conditions remaining in the city centre – he has positioned his workshop on the bridge completed some time ago and has constructed a flying machine that is supposed to be the work of engineering not worse than the bridge itself. After all this is him who had been working on the bridge for a few years preparing the ground for the future challenge.
This short story is the introduction to my new personal project that consisted on designing a flying machine and a bridge with a workshop from the Victorian era that could appear in a film or a game set in the real world but with some fantasy elements (like in the Jules Verne’s novels).
Here you can see the illustration with the bridge and the callout sheet.
